The idea is simple, just take two HF antennas any frequency as long as they are the same

and mount them as a dipole, by doing this you make an antenna that occupies a lot less

space and has gain 2dB greater than a single monopole antenna mounted onto a flat ground

plane, The antenna can be mounted either vertical or horizontal

Warning this antenna is very heavy

1. This antenna is not supplied with any mounting hardware

2. This antenna is supplied with extra various length tuning rods

3. We can supply tuned to whatever frequency required but you will need to fine tune it

4. This antenna is made to order and may take up to one week to manufacture

A 1/4 wave helical antenna with SMA connector designed especially for exposed SMA connectors on hand held radios and covered entirely with polyolefin rubber heatshrink.

The SMAVAR146 has a specially made 1/4λ phosphor bronze helical coil tuned to produce an exceptionally broadband antenna for use on the entire Air Band 144MHz to 148MHz.

 

Note: Also ideal for scanners that are mainly used for 2m band.

Note: The M270 needs a small ground plane area and should be mounted close to the ground plane, do not use a z bracket as the z bracket will cause a untuned dipole effect on UHF you should use a BMS - The best mounting is on the front bonnet of the car on a BMS.

Pros  - Combine 2m & 70cm bands in one
Cons - There is little electrical relationship between the bands, all 2m/70cm antennas are a critical compromise using separate antennas will provide a much better result
